My name is Matthais Reichel i am 22 years old, unemployed and a proud member of the communist party. I am hapily engadged to my fiancee Giselle Bahr who is expected to give birth to my first child this autummn. We live in Hamburg in northern Germany.

Dear diary,
I have deicded to accept the Nazi policys, their party seems to be growing by the minuet as they are the largest part in the Reichstag. Communism will always be my first choice but I need to look out for wife and the little one on the way especailly as now Hitler has been made Chancellor which makes him a very powerful man, i could go with other members of the communist party and try to not accpet this but this could lead to serious concequences. Nazi's are known to use violence against other us prove their point and i cannot afford to leave my wife a widow. The Nazi's also seem to be gaining support from all classes from the people of Germany through their ideas for the future. Even though i belive that everyone should be treated equally they have shown how their ideas wil benefit all from the different classes. Giselle thinks its a phase????

Hail Hitler, Hail Hitler. I'm am full of such excitment his words still remain inside my head. His love for Germnay captured me. The connection I felt between me and him was instantly formed. I listened to the words of Hitler when I went to the brewery with my friend Hans and we listened to his speech on the radio becasue we can't afford to travel to Berlin. I don't understand this its like the scacrafices and the belief of commuisim has just flown from my heart immediatly after listening to his speech. Chancellor Hitler beliefs on the depression and the ridculious amount of unemployment in homeland couldnt be put more beautifully 'immeasurable disaster'.
I have to admit that I held my breath when he started to attack my last love communism but I have finally made my choice. Nazism. Anyway Reichspräsident von Hindenburg wouldnt have made Hitler Chancellor without complete faith in him. Chancellor Hitler has also given his word that he would change all these things that are not making them as our for-fathers once had them and he promised in four years that these faults in Germany will all be changed.

I have heard of the recent news of the new police force 'Hilfspolizei'. I somehow have this gut feeling that I should join this police force. They are recruiting at SturmAbteilung this could help me recive wages to provide for Giselle and my unborn child. However our daily activities would be to defend against the communists (My first love) and Bolsheviki. I have even heard that they are allowed weapons to use, could i really do this to my ex fellow communists what happens if I come across my cousin or brother in law.
If i want to be part of this i need to go Berlin immediatly, i wonder if my neigbour would drop me? What about Giselle, sweet Giselle she feels that I have taken Nazism too seriously but how can i not when they seem to be Germany's new best reveolution. She does not agree with some of the new Nazi ideas, she wants to be independent, I do not know why, perhaps she will change when my son is born. She feels that me being unemployed will not provide us with the luxeries we need. But she needs to understand that becasue of Naziasm we will be secure i can feel it.

Comminists, i detest communists even thoguh i used to be one. Using Van der lubbe as some sort of statment is insane. This is not the sort of communism that i use to be part of, how could they burn the Reichstag building what point have they proved except of the words of Hitler that they are bringing our father land Germany into dispare. Why would they want to ruin our country to start this stupid reveloution of theres, well i tell them Germany is not going to be a communist country especially if new ideas such as the ones in the news are going to be used.

Hail Hitler, Hail Hitler. Its a good thing that I decided to change into a Nazi when I did, I would probably be shot dead by now, a child who is fatherless and a fiancee who might as well be a widow. I( have ordered my fiancee to burn and destory any evidence or traces that lead us to the our past of communism, she disagrees she has found it difficult to let go of our old life as i have insisted that she follows the beliefs of nazism.
What i find most difficult is that if I do get a response and become a member of the Hilfspolizei would i have to shoot some of my old communist friends which i have grown up with, it doesnt matter anyway i should stop asking myself these thoughts as it is Hitlers methods as he only cares for Germany hos country his methods must be right.

So much has happened recently the Nazi's are rising i tell you , we have gained the majority of the votes in the election whichi am simply happy with.
Finally German citizens are experiencing what i saw, a new beam of hope as we seem to be having some impact on them.
I told Giselle that this new day would come.
